Mancura means ‘Guard of the Andes’ and is a tribute to the mythical Condor of the Andes, the largest flying bird in the world, that protects the earth from the imposing Andean skies and safeguards the Chilean grape harvest. It is a recognized symbol in pre-Columbian cultures as the guardian of the crops, keeping watch from the skies above the mountain ranges. The Mancura winery is based in Rapel Valley, 120km south of Santiago, established in 1979. Mancura sources their grapes from the Casablanca, Maipo, Rapel, Curico and Maule Valley, resulting in a wide range of nuances in their wines.
