La Mancha (DO) is the largest continuous wine-growing region in the world, with over 190,000 ha planted to vines and a wine viticultural heritage that dates back to the 12th century. Vinicola de Castilla is considered one of the most traditional and emblematic wineries of the famous region. In fact, when wine historians assess the contributions of private wineries to the Spanish wine industry, Vinicola de Castilla might very well have had the greatest impact. Over the last 40 years their wines, which are exported to over 20 countries, have been honored with more than 600 international awards. While the credit goes to the winemakers — locals who have poured their hearts into honing their crafts, another key reason is the land parcel they’re growing their grapes on — with underground rivers feeding the limestone-rich loamy soil.
